All players are eligible for our Allstar Teams in every Division, no one will be turned down for a tryout for the team. The Allstar Team roster starts each season by us selecting the top 2, 3 or 4 ranked players from each team. Those players are sent a Allstar Team invitation that explains that we are not just looking for the best players, but we are looking for the best listeners and teammates. Being a great teammate is more important to these Allstar Teams than being one of the top players. Each week new players are able to tryout for the team and each week its possible a Allstar player could lose their roster spot based on behavior and/or performance. We want to make sure that the whole selection process is 100% transparent, so if your child wants to try out for the Allstar team just contact the Head Coach of your Division Allstar Team or the Flag Commissioner and your child will get a chance to show off their skills that week.
Allstar Team Details
The Allstar team is a group of 15 to 20 players of the highest ranked players in their grade/division. There is no charge to be part of the Allstar Team, it is designed for the top players to get in 1 extra practice or game each week. The Allstar Team has what we call a flexible schedule to accommodate our Multi sport athletes. If you are selected for the Allstar team you are not required to attend a certain number of practices or games to keep your roster spot. The reason we have 15 to 20 players on this team is so players are able to show up when it fits in their schedule for any practice or game. We will normally have Allstar practices/scrimmages after the house games on Saturday so the kids can stay on the field after they play their house game and attend the Allstar scrimmage wearing their house teams jersey.
Travel/Tournament Team Details
The Travel/Tournament Team is different than the Allstar Team, not all the players from the Allstar team will make the Travel/Tournament Team roster. The Allstar team usually has 15 to 20 players and the Travel/Tournament Team usually has 7 to 10 players on it. The Travel/Tournament Team will be enrolled in the CT Flag Football Travel League to play other towns as well as registered to play in the Official NFL Flag Regional Tournaments each year. The Travel/Tournament Team is age based not grade based so it can have a mixture of older kids and younger kids. Coaches are evaluating the Allstar players and teams at all times deciding who should make the Wilton Travel/Tournament. The CT Flag Football Travel League plays on Sundays home and away games at Wilton, New Milford, New Canaan, Danbury, Brookfield & Bethel. There is no additional registration charge to join the Wilton Flag Travel/Tournament Team but we do ask that all players purchase a matching uniform which consists of a Wilton Warrior Reversible Jersey, NFL Flag Shorts and NFL Flag socks. The approximate cost for the Travel uniform is $60 and each item can be worn for multiple years.
2022 BIRTHDAY REQUIREMENTS FOR TOURNAMENT PLAY:
8U DIVISION - Players must be born between Jan 2013 & Dec 2014
10U DIVISION - Players must be born between Jan 2011 & Dec 2012
12U DIVISION - Players must be born between Jan 2009 & Dec 2010
14U DIVISION - Players must be born between Jan 2007 & Dec 2008
